Seriously GoDaddy, you call that an apology email?

Received an email with the subject line saying "Please accept our apology and your enclosed offer" from GoDaddy and before reading it I thought they will be waiving some fee for 12 months or something like that to compensate all the trouble they have caused. Instead, as shown below, they ridiculously asking for more business, only offer 30% discount? and it's only available for the next 7 days??!! You got to be kidding me...

No Apple allowed?

Everyone must  be anxiously waiting for the new iPhone announcement like me. Was thinking of staying up for the news, but a quick Google shows 10 am Wednesday in San Francisco will be around 3 am Thursday Sydney time - still have to go to work tomorrow, so probably have to wait until tomorrow morning then....:-(

Ok, what's this "No Apple allowed?" thing I mentioned in the title, you might ask. Well, it's just that I recall seeing this sign a few weeks back:

If you compare it to the old Apple logo shown below, I think it's around 95% similar if you remove the circle and line. Don't you agree?

So, a sign saying "No Apple products allowed?" Well, technically, there's no clear explanation about what it is banning, but if I show you the whole thing you will get the idea. It's like this:

Yes, I guess it probably means "no food allowed" as it's next to the more-easy-to-understand "no smoking" sign. But why do they use the Apple logo??!! 

Where is this place? It's the Hyde Park Barracks Museum in Sydney...

What? iOS 6 is coming!?

Finally got some break after 2nd game submitted and was just started learning some of the new iOS 5 stuffs - as I like to have all my games to still support "older" version such as iOS 4.3. Then noticed this email from Apple about iOS 6 Beta, and all these news about new features in iOS 6.... What the....Am I too slow or is Apple too fast, or both ??!!

Also saw a few posts complaining about iPad 1 and pre 3GS iPhones won't be able to get iOS 6. I guess it shouldn't be such a big problem when the economy is good, but under current situation I think probably not everyone would rush to get the latest devices as a few years ago.

Any one know how different "Blogger/blogspot" domains work?

While looking at my sitemeter stats, noticed some domains which I never seen before.

First, there's this one looks like from France "http://new2objectivec.blogspot.fr/"

Then this one from India "http://new2objectivec.blogspot.in/"

This one from UK "http://new2objectivec.blogspot.co.uk/"

This one from Germany? "http://new2objectivec.blogspot.de/"

Also, recently, when I entered my domain name as "http://new2objectivec.blogspot.com/", it automatically redirects to Australian version: "http://new2objectivec.blogspot.com.au/"

I guess from Blogger/blogspot point of view, by redirecting traffic to local servers would be faster than all coming to one central site. I know there's this company called Akamai which installs lots of cache servers in different countries and automatically caches the content of it's client's web site to these local cache servers to improve the performance/customer experience. Probably Blogger/blogspot is doing the same thing?

Patch your Mac ASAP!

There's this news about 600K+ Mac been infected with "Flashback trojan" (some reports: here, here and here), make sure you patch your Mac ASAP following this instruction from Apple!

According to the instruction, it's "Java 1.6.0_29" that's having lots of problems and should upgrade to "1.6.0_31". And to check what version of Java runtime you have installed in your Mac, you have to run "java -version".

I tried it on my MacBook and this is what I got:

MacBook-Pro:$ java -version
No Java runtime present, requesting install.
MacBook-Pro:$

Ha ha, I didn't even have it installed...So looks like my Mac is safe from this specific trojan?

Just learned that it's because my MacBook comes with Lion and Lion doesn't install Java by default. But I found Safari still have "Enable Java" ticked by default, and have to go to "Preference -> Security" to disable it. But if you are running Snow Leopard that would be a different story.
